Whilst most of the UK finds itself in the grips of Siberian temperatures. I decided to adapt my previous Ice Lantern post into something that was super quick and easy for kids & adults alike to make, these are just perfect if they happen to be off school. I aslo wanted some that we could hang on the tree outside our window.
It’s marvelous to watch them swing and glisten in the sunshine!
My youngest picked the flower head off an indoor plant incase you wondered what possibly could have been in bloom in these winter elements in the garden! I find shallow saucers or dipping dishes are perfect for these decorations, but any saucer or small dish will do. Fill the dish with any leaves or beads or anything you like. It is your creation, so gather and place whatever you would like to see set in Ice!
Cut off a piece of twine or string and dip into the dish and fill with water to the brim. Voila! Leave it to set overnight and then hang them in the morning. TIP: If you find them hard to get out of the dish, run them gently under warm NOT hot water and they should easily slip out to hang.
I would love to see your creations so please do post a picture with your comment.
Keep warm and safe and grab a hot chocolate, making the most of this late winter snow and ice as Spring will no doubt beckon once more!
